Limiting # of children

Should countries with large populations consider a limit on the number of children that people can have, like China?

I dont think we have reached a point to where we are doomed if we dont start doing it but when that time comes, I suppose it will be necessary.

In China it was necessary, so I'm not against it. TBH I think they should limit it anyway, in some families there are 16 children, that's irresponsible parenting imo.

If people can afford to take care of their children then I don't think it's anyones business how many they have. It's the people on welfare that keep popping them out just to stay in the system that get me mad.

People who can afford it generally have a steady job, which means they have at least some form of responsibility and that's why you generally don't have that many children in families like that. In such big families the parents couldn't possibly have enough time for all the kids and then you get situations where the older brother/sister is actually educating them. IMO that's not the best situation for children to be in.

And if somebody goes over the limit? If people can afford to take care of them and can give them a good life then it doesn't really matter how many they have.



If they can't give the kids a happy, healthy life then fair enough somebody should step in but there's already a system in place for that.

I'm not too sure about how it works in the US but in the UK if a child isn't being cared for properly or is in any danger then Social Services will step in.

Anyway, we (in the usa) are not busting at the seems. There is plenty of space for everyone. In fact there is parts you can drive for hours and not see anyone or any signs of civilization.

Once we fill all that up, then we may have a problem. Especially when we bulldoze crops and and nature to build an apartment complex or houses.

I really wonder how many of these people there actually are, because conservatives love to throw this one out in opposition to any kind of social welfare.



The world population is supposed to top off at 9 billion, so unless the population density and living conditions get too bad (like maybe India), I don't see this as being necessary.

Same view in this matter.



I think the trend of having more children for social security will drop in the future. Just my point of view :/

I don't really see how limiting it is possible. In China they'll drown newborns, and I really don't think as a civilized people the US/UK would stoop to that. And limiting children really begs the question of what happens if someone has, for example, 3 kids. The limit is 4. Their next pregnancy turns out to be twins, taking their total to 5. What do you do in that case?



It's not really thought through very well.
