I used to work as a driver for a car delivery company, collecting all sorts of cars from one location & driving them to another. As a result I driven all sorts from a clapped out old banger which seized on me after about 10 miles from the collection point - only to find that it had absolutely no oil in it, right the way through to fancy ones like MR2, Ferrari, Jaguar, and even a couple of Rollers.

I remember doing automobile test drive videos, but I've deleted all of them off my capture device because it took up a ton of space on my computer. I used to take test drive videos every other day, with footage upload onto the PC in between.

Love the Impala 1964 and the Mustang Boss :)

Never had a mustang.

My next car was a 1968 Ford Falcon. It was the first car that was "Mine" as I had to share the Impala with my father who'd drive it to work if my mother needed "their car" that day. When he'd take it to work, I'd have to get a ride to high school or, failing that, catch the bus, in which case I'd usually chose to walk.

It was the one that was so rusty the trunk fell out one time and got me a ticket for littering from a laughing cop.

I'm only 14, but I've drove a few vehicles before.

-1998 Chevrolet S10
-1995 Chevrolet Tahoe
-2000 Dodge Neon
-Ford F-350 Powerstroke Diesel

I was raised around it. My dad drag raced before getting with my mom and then when they got together, my mom worked the starting line... even while pregnant with me. My mom used to tell me that as a baby, I'd fall right asleep over at the track around all the loud cars and when I was a toddler, I didn't want to sleep unless dad took me and put me in his loud car and let it run. Still to this day I have to have a fan on or some motor running to go to sleep.

I started racing at 11 years old in lil go cart type things called Jr Dragsters... then I raced my mom and dad's cars... even took my street car over a couple times and took it down the track. It's good fun. :)

@Ladyvamptress - I attend many drag races. My dad used to race a Malibu himself, and had an S10 race truck. What track(s) have you raced at?

Mason Dixon Dragway - Boonsboro, MD
75-80 Dragway - Monrovia, MD
Coastal Plains Dragway - Jacksonville NC
Maple Grove Raceway - Mohnton, PA (Super Chevy Show)
And some race track in Indiana that I won a spot to a nationals event.

I think that's it. :p

Fascinating thread.

Drag racers interspersed with my rusty crap that nobody else wanted.

After the Falcon that would lose various parts of itself if you hit a bump or slammed a door too hard I had a...

1976 Dodge Dart Swinger. It remains, TO THIS DAY, the newest vehicle I ever had by model year age when it was titled to me. It was barely 4 years old when I bought it in 1980.

The reason I bought it was that the body of the Falcon had rusted off the frame. The car was loose on it's bones and was unsafe to drive. But I was using it anyway. For several months. Where you had to stop several times per trip to make sure the back half of the car was still there.

There was an estate sale, the car was part of the auction, I went with my dad, he bid on it, we bought it, and I paid him for it. It was mine. And it was Federal Safety Color: Red! (long story).

The Dart ended up being struck by lightning while we were out fishing one day.

State Farm called it an "act of God" and only paid for the tow back to town. NOTHING electrical, except a handful of light bulbs, worked. I had to replace the dashboard, starter, radio, plug wires, rotor, headlight switch, etc. And from then on, I had to buy a rebuilt alternator about every six months. The car simply killed them.

I took the Diehard battery back to Sears and they flat out asked me "what the hell happened to this thing?" It was bone dry and the plates inside were warped. But they DID replace it under the warranty.

Later a friend of mine in the science department at the college I went to checked out the car and said if you put it on a raft it would act as a compass because the road it was parked on pointed due north when it was struck, so now, it would act like a magnet oriented north-south.

But, it was a cool car to have.
