Do you prefer to listen to music performed and recorder live or recorded in a studio? Vote!

I have nothing against live recordings, but I prefer the studio version over the live. Simply because it sounds better.

I like studio recorded, edited, digitally mastered, etc etc etc music.

AHH! im definitely all out for live on here, being a musician, i dont really mind bout the recording, or the effects... its the music that matters, and LIVE has it all.

Same. Editing is amazing nowadays. You can listen to a CD & then watch a performance live, and you'd never believe how awful some people live can literally be opposed to their album or CD that is professionally edited.

Most bands suck live. Suck.

But yeah, I like both. For regular listening, I like studio versions of course. But I often buy concert DVD's, for example my two favourites are Live at Pompeii (Pink Floyd) and Metallica S&M (Err, obviously Metallica, and San Francisco orchestra...symphony...thing.)

What I really, really hate is in Delicate Sound of Thunder, which is another Pink Floyd live album, where the kids sing in Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2, they don't sing in time with the music. I guess even if the band plays well, other things may mean that the quality of the performance is altered.

But Live at Pompeii had practically zero audience, so it was brilliant, to say the least.

What I love about live concert DVD's is that you can see the audience, you can see the sweat on that guitarist's face, you can feel the hype. It just feels like you're there. But yeah, I couldn't deal with imperfection like that if I was just listening to it. When I listen to stuff live, I usually don't do anything else.

EDIT: Of course, what's best is actually BEING THERE. But since I don't care much for modern music, that's sadly not an option.
