That was my mother's favourite thing, just making up her own lyrics. She could crack you up at times because she thought they were right, but they were so far off! Like Savage Garden's Truly, Madly, Deeply, she'd always sing "I want to push you off of a mountain, I want to drown you under the sea. I want to lie like this forever, until the law comes after me." No clue how she came to that conclusion, but it was hilarious!
