Loving a Woman/Man from another Culture

I'm English, My boyfriend is Polish

I've loved someone from another country, but not another culture. I often find that when it comes to different cultures, one person has to give up theirs and join the other. I've heard of, and seen, a lot of women here moving into Islam because their boyfriend is Islamic, and frankly I find it idiotic.

Islam is a way of life, and religion. Not a culture.

In the Qur'an it says 'There is no compulsion in religion.' (2:256)
What this means is someone who has come to Islam through any other means than feeling emaan in their heart and having a sincere love of Allah swt and doing it for the sake of Allah swt is not a Muslim.
It's about your heart and intentions, not about the 'culture' or about anyone else but yourself and Allah. In Islam, and in sight of Allah these conversions are invalid. :) So for someone to openly admit they are Muslim because they are with a Muslim...Well...

But, that's just the Islamic viewpoint on what you have mentioned.

As someone in an inter-cultural relationship and with MANY, MANY friends in the same boat I have to disagree with you. My wife and I have what we call a 'fusion-family' and so too do a mass of other families we know and are close to.

I'm sorry for what you have seen, and how you feel about it.
I find such things idiotic as well.

But we can't judge them, it's their choice, no?

Most of my past GF's and my current partner is hispanic, which is another race that I am not. My daughter is half hispanic too.

There's no such thing as race, only different ethnicities and cultures.
Race is a classification system used to categorize humans into large and distinct populations or groups by anatomical, cultural, ethnic, genetic, geographical, historical, linguistic, religious, and/or social affiliation. First used to refer to speakers of a common language and then to denote national affiliations, in the 17th century, people began to use the term to relate to observable physical traits. Such use promoted hierarchies favorable to differing ethnic groups.

The word police is here :police:
There is such as thing as race and I am pretty sure you know what I meant which is why you provided synonyms for the word race. I could have also used the word "nationality" or "background" or "identity" or "origin" or several other different words that all mean basically the same thing. :P

Nonetheless, conversions because someone close to you convinces you shouldn't be too strange, right?

While, we're playing around with the definition of words...
It is perfectly possible for Nebulous to have had a child with an alien - and, from my point of view, he did.

I don't think I've ever loved anyone. As for a crush, I liked a japanese girl for some time. The culture was never really a problem tbh. Sure, her dad didn't like me, but even if that wasn't because I'm white I'm sure he'd have found another reason. I also find the culture much more interesting than my own, although I doubt I could ever fully adapt to it or move to Japan.

I've actually dated someone in another culture but I'm not about to give up my culture for yours Sorry!!! I was born in America and an American and that's what I'm gonna stay as :)
