CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Clifton Park man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to entice and coerce a child into engaging in sexual acts with him, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Michael Kirkland, 30, pleaded guilty back in December of 2023.
In his guilty plea, Kirkland admitted that on August 11, 2022, he sent sexually explicit messages to someone he believed was offering the sexual services of a 12-year-old girl, attempting to sexually entice the minor. He also confessed to traveling to a hotel in Saratoga County on the same day with the intention of having sex with the child.
Kirkland was arrested shortly after arriving at the hotel. In addition to his prison sentence, he faces a post-release term of supervision of 10 years. Kirkland will also be required to register as a sex-offender upon his release.
