Marvel is apparently planning to produce many smaller budget films featuring lesser known characters to expand their brand presence in the movie world.

CHUD is reporting on this, saying that Marvel is looking to produce films with a budget in the range of $20 million to $40 million, which would allow them to focus on lesser known characters and bring them into the mainstream consciousness, possibly creating opportunities for new franchises. Here an excerpt from the article, which claims that any characters could be up for grabs:

Filmmakers are being offered their pick of characters whose names are only familiar to comic fans. Properties like Dr. Strange, Ka-Zar, Luke Cage, Dazzler and Power Pack are among the many that are being tossed around right now. And the attitude seems to be that Marvel is open to bringing any of their characters to the screen at the right price point.

This would certainly make sense, allowing Marvel and Disney to take chances with characters that might be considered very risky at $100 million, but not so much at $20 million. We could be seeing some of these in development by the time Avengers hits theaters!

Yet, I think we've seen the proof otherwise in X-Men, Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, and Iron Man. And several others I could think of.

Yeah. I agree. But what you pointed out are main characters from their own series.

Based on what I understand on the said article, Marvel plans on putting up a movie on some unknown Marvel characters, mostly secondary ones, that people really don't know about.

Here are good examples: http://www.beyondhollywood.com/five...characters-that-could-front-their-own-movies/

Yeah, its going to be other characters from the Marvel universe in their own movies. Or even shared ones possibly. Although how that list can include The Punisher since he's had at least 3 different movies is beyond me. Same for Daredevil. But for the other three mentioned. It would be good exposure for those 3 characters.

The article doesn't really pointing it's fingers to Punisher and Daredevil.

To be exact, they are talking about Microchip from Punisher, and Paladin from the Daredevil.

From that article, I'm really hyped to see Night Trasher or Moon Knight in action.

Oh whoops. I wasn't really fully reading the whole thing. My bad. To be honest, I've never heard of Night Trasher, or Microchip and Paladin. Granted.. there's been a lot in the world of Comics I've missed out on.
