The BBC began investigating working conditions at McDonald's in February after the company signed a legally binding agreement with the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) in which it pledged to protect staff from sexual harassment.

At the time, McDonald's insisted it had a "strong track record in this area", but the investigation revealed a different picture, with more than 100 allegations from McDonald's workers relating to sexual assault, harassment, racism and homophobia over the past five months.

A BBC investigation has been told workers, some as young as 17, are being groped and harassed almost routinely.

Wow, how shocking! Goes to show you can't even expect lawful treatment a famous employer!

Oh, I don't know about that. You could say the UK public sector's reign is coming to an end. You'd be shocked at the discrimination and sexual harassment claims there. I imagine this sort of thing happens in a lot of places but such publicity is not gained, because either the victim is coercively silenced, there is inadequate proof or a confidnetial settlement is reached before the courts.

In spite of that, Mickey D's is have a really bad time though and I think it started with the Pandemic and the Ukraine War factoring into these issues.

Has Mcdonald's had a tough time with recruitment or with the profit due to energy costs vs ppl's spending power ?
I can imagine both as they don't exactly have the best reputation for working conditions...

There was an "I don't want to work" movement after the pandemic lock downs. People's tolerance for corporate greed became intolerant. I agree. Who wants to work part time for dog shit pay? I don't. It's a waste of my time to work hard for barely nothing in return so they can turn a profit.

They're no different than Wal-Mart. I had a very bad experience working for Wal-Mart. It's good to see people stand up and say enough. People have the right to make a living and pay their bills. Part time and little pay is bullshit. These corporations need to start hiring people for full time and quit with the bullshit just because they want to unfairly turn a profit.

They've always been crooked like this for as long as I can remember. No one works there for very long unless they go into upper management.
