meet online friends in person?

I haven't met with an online friend due to how people are abusing the relationship. I've heard of a girl who went to visit an online friend but did not return alive.
I have a bossom friend who went to meet an online friend outdoors but was framed up for a crime she never committed.

It has really been a long time that I sustained a friendship from the online space till I met the person physically. I don't think I have that energy much these days because I have a hectic job. Last time I met an online friend physically was six years ago.

Yes - I got to know my girlfriend through forums (and we've met up numerous times, though we're still not living together or anything) - and I've met up with some UK-based forum friends a few times.

I've never met up with anyone outside the UK, but I would like to!
