There’s something a little odd, and creepy, about this fella.

His eyes follow you around the room and he pulls a range of faces to show what mood he’s in, responding to those around him.

Quite the raconteur, you might expect.

But Ham is actually a robot, currently on display at an electronics event in Hong Kong.

Created by American designer David Hanson, he is even able to answer basic questions.

The lifelike head was made using a material called Frubber – yes, that is its real name.

Hanson Robotics claimed the robots can see your face, make eye contact with you, and understand speech.

The age we live in…

Unsurprisingly, the company has dabbled with realistic robotics before, with an earlier version of Ham sculpted to look like Albert Einstein.

See David Hanson talking about his robots with emotions, including the Albert Einstein model:

What do you think of this robot?

It's the facial expressions.

I think "Ted" was the name of John Ritter's robot character on Buffy, one that needed slaying!

Who would have thought that today I could sit in a parking garage at a mall and type this some year back, this is just so cool.

Even better than Facebook
