What a scary way to die. RIP
The meteorologist who was killed was one of the more well-known weather folks on TV in the Char-Meck (Charlotte-Mecklenburg) area; from most reports (if the CMPD blurb stands), when the helicopter was going down, the pilot flying it could see where they were going to crash and kept the chopper flying up long enough to keep it from crashing onto I-77 during the midst of mid-afternoon traffic.

How noble, knowing you are about to die but trying to minimize who else gets killed in the process.
