What's the oddest thing you've seen or experienced while out in the middle of nowhere?

i'm a city kid who's spent a fair amount of time in the middle of nowhere, with thousands of people even at rainbow gatherings. i'm really scouring my memory and nothing can match the city for odd. a moose coming out of the bushes for a drink of water while i was fishing on a tiny lake in canada is the best i can come up with. maybe a buzzard that appeared out of the fog sitting in the middle of a road in central florida or a cow i nearly creamed that stepped out into one of those roads i was driving too fast on. :|

Hmm, most strange and odd things I have seen have happened in urban areas. I like the country, nice quiet and boring. :P

that's exactly what i was saying. i always looked forward to the trips out of the city to get away from all the madness.

I was hiking with friends once and we came upon an old zoo/amusement park. The cages were all rusted out and open. Some of the rides were still there but in bad disrepair. It was very spooky looking.

When we got home, I looked up the area where we were. There was an article about the man who ran the place. It said he went insane, let all the animals out of their cages and then shot himself in the head.

I bet Crusader would have loved to have gone with you and photographed that place. :highfive:
