The days of method actors piling on the pounds for a role may be numbered.

MovieReshape is a new image-manipulation software that developers say can alter an actor's appearance by editing a film to achieve the desired bodily appearance. To create the tool, researchers took three-dimensional scans of 120 men and women with varying builds and body types, then morphed the images together to create a program that allows the user to adjust a single body into any desired form, according to the Daily Mail.

The visual is everything here, so let's go to the video explanation.

An actor's height, weight and muscle tone are all up to the editor, and the program eliminates the tedious necessity to edit a sequence frame by frame.

Of course, what better way to really delve into explaining the tool than editing an old sequence from everyone's favorite beach lifeguard drama, Baywatch.
