Mikaeel Kular's Mother Jailed For His Killing

Rosdeep Adekoya has been jailed for 11 years for killing her three-year-old son Mikaeel Kular in Edinburgh in January.

She "lost her temper" when he was repeatedly sick following a trip to Nandos in the city on January 12, and smacked and struck him on the body and head.

He died two days later, and she attempted to cover up his death by hiding his body in a suitcase and leaving it in woodland, then reported him as missing sparking a huge police search.

John Dunn, procurator fiscal for the east of Scotland, said: "There can be few crimes more shocking than a parent killing their child."

The court heard previously how Mikaeel's condition worsened in the days after the beating, and he became "listless" and "quiet" - eventually giving "limited" responses to his mother's questions.

Advocate depute Alex Prentice, prosecuting, told the court that when he was put to bed two days later: "He would have been in significant pain but was put to bed.

"The pain would have increased significantly while Mikaeel became dangerously ill and finally dying as a result of the injuries inflicted upon him by the accused."

Mobile phone telephone masts recorded the 34-year-old's journey to the woodland near her sister's house in Kirkcaldy to dump the body, contradicting her statements to police about her whereabouts.

Adekoya's internet history also showed searches including "I find it hard to love my son", "Why am I so aggressive with my son" and "Get rid of bruises".

She eventually broke down and took officers to his body.

The final cause of Mikaeel's death was found to be "blunt force abdominal trauma" and the court heard he had more than 40 separate injuries to his body.

Sentencing, Lord Glennie said the Crown accepted Adekoya did not intend to kill her son, but added: "What you did was cruel and inexcusable.

ELEVEN YEARS??!!?!! For murdering her own child???!! What the hell is wrong with the "justice" system that gives a slap on the wrist to a lying, murdering piece of trash like this useless bitch??

This just disgusts me. I'm sick and fucking tired of hearing stories about our system being so useless.

The only good thing I can see in this clusterfuck of a mess is that now the baby is out of pain and gone from his mother's side. She no longer has him to vent her frustrations on.

I'd like 3 minutes alone with her to vent my own frustrations about our judicial system. :badwords:

You'd have to go to the UK to get your 3 minutes alone with her. Seems to me like the UK is very lenient on their criminals. Don't even think they have the death penalty there.
