Miley Cyrus cried as she performed her song Wrecking Ball for the first time, just days after announcing she had split up with fiance Liam Hemsworth.
Hundreds of fans chanted the singer's name as she took to the stage at the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas.
The 20-year-old began her four-song set with smash hit We Can't Stop, alongside others onstage dressed in flower, mushroom and rainbow costumes.
And just weeks after her headline-grabbing performance at the MTV Awards, Cyrus gave the crowd another demonstration of the 'twerking' dance move she has become synonymous with.
She exhibited the move alongside a dwarf dancer, before slapping her fellow performer on the backside.
But after a colourful performance of Party In The USA, the pop star gave an emotional first rendition of her latest release, Wrecking Ball.
Her voice could be heard cracking towards the end of the song and her mascara was seen running as she left the stage.
Cyrus, the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, said she knows "things I'm doing that's getting me into trouble and it's just me doing what my heart and soul is telling me what to do".

She better stop doing what her heart and soul are telling her to do. I was going to say she had better listen to common sense but she doesn't have any! :s
