Background....
(Townhall) -21. Taylor Lorenz – Once a lock for the top five on this list, Lorenz has both been corralled somewhat by her paper, as she was placed under strict editorial oversight since her spate of problematic reports last year, and she has descended into a more nonsensical realm. Lorenz was spending the better part of the year mewling about COVID-19 and people not masking and distancing. Yes, she is still at this. Meanwhile, she was also posting shots of herself in mixed company with celebrated names. Taylor claimed Elon Musk paying out to subscribers who generate traffic just like YouTube and other platforms do was his attempt to bribe people to stay on Xitter. She was among those criticizing the influencer Mr. Beast as he paid for wells to be dug in water-desperate areas in Africa, saying that he had "monetized kindness content."

TL/DR: There's this Internet influencer named Mr. Beast who, out of his own pocket and wanting to do something charitable, paid for the construction of 100 deep-well water stations across Kenya, helping provide clean drinking water to thousands of Kenyans. Unfortunately, a lot of boobirds - including Ms. Covid herself above (a/k/a Taylor Lorenz) decided to attack him over him. His response though?

Thankfully, Mr. Beast doesn’t seem to care about the backlash he’s getting. On Nov. 4, ahead of this video’s release, he tweeted, “I already know I’m gonna get canceled because I uploaded a video helping people, and to be 100% clear, I don’t care. I’m always going to use my channel to help people and try to inspire my audience to do the same.”

OK.

I've never heard of him, or her, or that, or any of the rest of it.

I don't 'subscribe' to or 'follow' ANY YouInstaTicTweetFaceGramBookTocXTube Channel, at all, never have.

So, now, I'm only a little less informed about all this stuff than our compost pile out in the back corner of the yard, but I might be made to understand it, perhaps after a cup of something that would make John Wayne wince, but it is possible.

In Short:

Some guy wants to spend his money digging wells in some godforesaken dustbowl village over yonder.

and

Some self-righteous busybody wants to give him grief over it while she hobnobs with other WholeFood Liberals.

OK. Fine.

Can you explain to me exactly why I should care about the above?

I personally do not have any issues with Mr. Beast. I think he's a good person. But I can understand people's complaints about him. You see, YouTube has a paid user program for people like Mr Beast, Shane Dawson, and Onision. From my understanding, a lot of people give him shit for his "good deeds" because he does them on a platform that pays him "per amount of viewers", so he's still getting paid to do it. Some people believe if you're going to do good things, you should do good things in return for nothing. So in short, he's still raking in millions of dollars for his publicity stunts based on digging wells and paying for people's doctor bills.

According to estimates from Celebrity Net Worth, MrBeast rakes in between $3 to $5 million each month via a combination of ad revenue and paid sponsorships. His 2021 YouTube income of $54 million averages $4.5 million per month generated via the platform.

OK. I read that. Fine.

Tell me one thing.

Does it matter one way or another to the people getting water from the well in that godforsaken dustbowl village that Beast got paid because people watched the video?

No. He still did a good thing. He saved those people from dying from dehydration. His haters can get over it.
