A local Seattle artist who's starting to make it big recently released a song in support of marriage equality in Washington.

Coming out of the hip-hop genre, it's really amazing to hear this kind of a well-tempered, sincere voice pushing for progress.

Give the song a listen, it's worth it regardless of your musical tastes:

It's refreshing to listen to rap with a purpose, especially since there's always been an almost homophobic aura surrounding the culture of hip-hop music.

Macklemore has some nice songs. Have you listened to Wings about the destructive cult-like culture of consumerism? I've added it to page 3 of the meaningful songs thread: http://offtopix.com/top...em/page__st__40

Yep, hip-hop has definitely been homophobic, misogynistic, and hyper-masculine for a long time.

I've listened to basically everything Macklemore has put out, I'm not a crazy fan, but he has some great stuff. I'm from Seattle, so everyone here knows him and I've seen him live twice and will be seeing him again in October when he's touring after he drops the new album, first show of the tour too, actually.
