so, i was on this other forum *spit* *spit* and we were discussing forums...

i made a comment that a certain forum structure looks terrible in my opinion, and a staff member removed it and pm'ed me that it was too offensive and rude...

is my opinion about a forum structure being terrible looking rude and offensive? :dontknow:

I didn't find your comment rude or offensive. Some people don't deal with criticism very well which appears to be the case here.

Perhaps you should have said it "needs improvement" and gave suggestions on how to improve it. :P

This. Now, I'm not saying I don't agree with you freezy, but there are just some people who simply cannot take criticism about anything they have produced, like, etc. You have to walk on eggshells around them and sugar coat things, so it could've just been the way you said it, not so much your opinion in general.

it wasn't towards anyone or any forum per-say, we were discussing forum platforms and stuff, and someone brought up a double structure index type forum, i've seen them in the past... it's where, on a forum's index page, forums are listed in two rows instead of one like here on Off Topix, and i voiced my opinion about that specific structure only, not about a specific forum or a member's forum... my opinion on that type of forum structure were always the same after i've seen a few forums like that some time ago, and it just looks terrible... how is that disrespectful, rude or anything else if it's my opinion? :dontknow:

Here's my take on it. Some people are so sensitive that even the truth can be a burden to handle.

I think the problem is at least in this country(USA), we are being taught that life has no losers and everyone is a winner and can do no wrong as a child. Then comes adulthood, when the nasty truth that there are losers and you can do wrong comes to light and because they never got used to it as a child, they can't take it as an adult. This is what comes of a person when he is given the rewards of success and hard work without actually deserving of the reward. I say you should expect to get hurled abuse and be punished for what you say regardless of how you attempt to come across. The very fact you didn't get on your knees and worship their view of *insert subject of discussion here* automatically earns you the label of hater, abusive, mean, and cruel even if it would easily look as constructive to everyone else.

Maybe in rich white suburban neighborhood's.

Some of these kids in the poor neighborhoods know what is is to lose and have nothing, they get (metaphorically) shit on all day every day & never receive any praise for anything. They face harder realties than some adults ever have to experience. Breaks my heart and it's becoming more and more common as the economy declines.

Many people also think that I'm rude and offensive when I'm just being direct and harsh.

But then again, I'm not politically correct (PC) either.

Be direct and harsh all you want. Some people like to know where they stand. Others... not so much.

:P

i like your directness... ;)

I never complain when a forum structure looks strange, unless it has annoying bugs that make the experience not compelling.

it wasn't really a complaint, more of a observation about said forum structure and it wasn't posted on a forum that had that type of forum structure...

A little off topic, but as far as control issues go on other forums. If it makes you feel any better.
I recently was told from another forum moderator that I'm not allowed to necro post, or post in old threads as old as 6 months because it is bad for the newer topics made by the other members, even though its not stated in the rules. I didn't protest because he's close knit with the admin, so I didn't raise hell over it. I can only imagine what they might have done.
