Nanny filmed ‘beating boy, 2, then stealing his food’

A cruel nanny is facing child abuse charges after she was filmed apparently hitting and stealing from a baby she was supposed to be looking after.

Eve Mantaras, 25, appears to hit the boy as he cowers in his high chair before she sits down at the table to eat.

His mother, Cristina Ceril, 33, had installed the secret camera at the family home in the north-eastern city of Parana and linked it to her smartphone after discovering a series of bruises on the youngster.

Neighbours had warned them that the two-year-old and his 10-year-old sibling were often screaming and in tears on most days when they were alone with the nanny.

Police and prosecutors now say the footage will be used in a criminal assault and child abuse charges.

Mum Cristina said: ‘We would sometimes hear her with our son crying very early in the morning.

‘It now makes my blood run cold to think what she might have been doing.’

She added: ‘We always thought she was a bit lazy around the house but we never imagined for a second that she was violent too.

‘She actually stole my son’s food and then hit him for saying he was hungry. She is sick.’

Seems to me like there were a bunch of red flags these parents missed. Or is it just me that thinks this?

Yeah, lot's of red flags, but sometimes it takes other people a little longer to realize how stupid they are before adding two and two together and actually doing something to protect their child. *shrug* He's just lucky his parents pulled their heads out of their asses before the nanny killed the poor thing.
