I am running Windows XP and all of a sudden I cannot hear sound while playing a video. I popped in a music dvd and I could hear it. Any ideas as to why I can hear the music but cannot hear a video? This is driving me nuts and any help would be very much appreciated.

What kind of video are you trying to watch? (YouTube, etc.)

Yes, Jughead, I am trying to watch and hear a YouTube video. I thought it might just be that one video so I try a different one and nada.

Ensure the video isn't muted.

Thank you so very much Jughead and I will try that. What do I do, click on the mute button? Sorry to be so stupid but I know nothing about this stuff.

Only click the volume icon if you see a red x, which indicates sound is muted. Otherwise, simply put your pointer on the volume icon, then scroll the volume over to the right.

Thank you for your time and patience Jughead. I really appreciate it but it's still not working. Time for a trip to the computer repair guy.

It could very well be something in your computer. Is there like a little speaker icon in your bottom tray at the bottom of your screen?

Ensure the volume for your browser isn't muted and/or too low:

I've seen this issue before. Have you tried using a different web browser other then Internet Explorer (IE)?

Try Firefox or Opera Browser. http://www.mozilla.com or http://www.opera.com/

YouTube uses Adobe Media Flash... Try re-installing Flash Player, Shock wave Player, and Adobe Air ... any & all of these can affect YouTube Videos. http://www.adobe.com/downloads/

If none of these resolve the issue ... Have you since installed or updated anything?

Have you tried emptying all your temporary files?

Have you also tried rebooting?
