So im a bit bored and wanted to start having my own forum. I need some ideas and some names for the forums. The forums is going to be mostly about tech and games and some other money making things. It also will have lots of other categorys also.

I find naming a forum to be the hardest thing. You need to find a more .errrr whats the word.... direct? no... you need to narrow down what you want it to be about, a techie forum is too vague and there are hundreds on the net.

They're to common, try and think of something that it's involved with..

Example. I've created a Wrestling forum, I called it Springboard (Springboard moves are created by jumping from the ropes) So something around the genre but not necessarily what it is about. Something catchy that is going to make people take notice of the site.

I've generally found that avoiding mainstream names but still somehow referencing the genre works best. You're going to be hard-pressed to find a name or genre that is truly unique, the Internet is just so vast that there could five such forums with the genre as the one you're considering making.

Industrialgage.com

electronicgage.com

appliedgage.com

hitechbeton.com

The only one I really like is electronicgage, because it's relevant to your subject and it's not common.

I realise you are bored and want to make a forum, but why are you asking for people's input when you should be thinking about what it is you enjoy rather than what you think other people will?

Sorry but I disagree with your statement. It's not all about what he likes. It's about diversity and having a lot of interesting forums/topics. Let's say he enjoys games and I don't. Well if that was the only thing his forum offered, I would never join. Like I said, you need diversity to make a successful forum.

Agreed, but at the same time maybe he wants it to be solely about a specific topic, whilst diversity is a tremendous advantage to garnering success, having a concept dedicated primarily to a specific subject can garner success as well. We have millions upon millions of general discussion forums, rightfully so, a place to discuss everything, but the alternative of having a place to discuss a specific subject doesn't seem bad in my opinion, I mean, it has worked well before.
