Netflix, the popular US TV and film streaming service, has signed its first UK content deal with Lionsgate, the production company behind Reservoir Dogs, ahead of its British launch early next year.

The leading online film and TV subscription service will launch in the UK in “early 2012”, but has yet to announce a precise date or how much it will cost British consumers per month.

Netflix’s multi-year deal with Lionsgate UK, means that UK subscribers will be able to watch new films from the producer such as The Hunger Games, the Dirty Dancing remake and Expendables 2, as well as older classics, like Reservoir Dogs and the Blair Witch Project. British customers will be able to watch Netflix content via their TVs, phones, tablets, computers and games consoles.

Netflix is the leading worldwide brand in steaming movies and they have an incredible service in North America, said Zygi Kamasa, Lionsgate’s UK chief executive.

We are very excited to be working with them as they launch their service and bring our movies to audiences in the UK and Ireland.
