Do you like joining new forums? Or do you prefer to join older forums with more posts and members? Or do you not mind? Explain why

Myself, personally, don't mind as much but I tend to lean towards the older forums with more posts and member. More to talk about and more people to meet. But it's sort of nice to join a new forum and be there with it as it grows

I don't like joining new forums as I've been burnt in the past. I have spent a lot of time and effort helping to build up the forums and the forums for various reasons close. A lot of the time they close because of poor administration or lack of any administration. Another big reason they close is the owner of the small forum expects overnight success and they keep closing and reopening the forum. When a forum owner keeps closing and reopening, that forum has lost all creditabilty in my opinion. I prefer to be a member of a well established forum that has a variety of topics and a good size member base.

A lot of times it's very hard to get into older boards imo. Certainly if the regulars have this elitist attitude because of their oh so large post count. But overall I agree with EE, as long as the people are nice I don't really care much.

I dont mind joining new forums if it has potential, is a genre that i like and looks like it will be active

I dont know how many times I joined a brand new forum that looked promising only to see it shut down a couple weeks or a month later. It gets kind of frustrating after a while. Why waste my time contributing to something that is probably going to be closed? It seems like once a forum gets to a certain age, it has a higher chance of not closing.

But if everyone had that attitude forums wouldn't exist. I myself am creating a new forum project lol.

I usually stick to the older forums, mostly because when a forum opens everyone is post crazy! They are eager to sketch on new paper and although it is a lot of fun, I don't really like posting in the middle of traffic, haha. It really depends on the forum though, because not all of them start out like that. Besides that, I don't really mind either way, and even if the forum closes within a couple of days, time is always well invested when you meet the right people.

I don't mind joining new forums to help them out a little. But I love joining bigger forums with more posts as you get more discussions.
