I've noticed on numerous forums, posters with very little posts and perhaps immediately after they join a forum, before they even have the chance to make their own introduction thread they will begin posting in other peoples introduction welcome each of them to the site. I'm not talking about posting once in an introduction thread perhaps to welcome somebody you know or something, I'm talking about potentially posting in five or six peoples introduction thread? Does this annoy you, why or why not? Personally, whilst I do find it kinda irritating, I don't tend to let it bother me, but I don't see it as a warm welcoming to those members, I see it as a hollow introduction if anything.

I've seen this as well. I'm not sure if they do it because they are new and trying to connect with other new members. Not sure but it really doesn't bother me.

I also think sometimes, it's like saying 'Hi I'm new too'. It's like

making a connection with others in your situation - ie, being

the 'Newcomer'.

I think it's not always easy to integrate yourself on a forum

with members who've been there ages and also, a lot of

times the other members don't bother to welcome newcomers,

so I wouldn't have a problem with newcomers welcoming each

other.

I personally don't see it as them trying to meet up with newer people or anything like that but instead them saying something like, welcome in a bunch of threads, and sometimes I've seen them actually dig pages deep and welcome somebody that has been on the website for several weeks. I've seen people say, Welcome to the site, you'll love it here whenever they just registered, and whilst I appreciate the compliment, it kinda annoys me like in my mind I'm thinking, How do you know? and by all means, I hope they do love it here.

Oh I agree that digging out members that joined ages ago

to welcome them is going a bit too far ! That seems more

like an attempt to increase their post count than anything else.

I've seen it... struck me as kinda odd

But maybe they've been lurking and do know what goes on...

I second this!
