Go watch the original "Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3," because most of what you'll see in that film is completely unchanged.

Unbelievable in this day and age they haven't upgraded.
 
The Chinese probably can't hack that and shut the system down.
You'd probably need power tools to shut that stuff down.
If it still works, why change it?
It's bit of a long term liability. At some point replacement parts won't be produced anymore and no one new will be taught how to maintain systems like these. Judging by the video they're aware of this and managing it.
That aside, it might be cheaper to use a new system as technology improves and you can use fewer people and need less maintenance.
