What is something you remember being free, but now isn't?

Nothing is really ever free as someone pays for it and when it's not you then it's someone else.

Compressed air at the gas stations. The air pumps used to be free but now they charge you to inflate tires.

access to the internet was free until michael bloomberg came along and invented ISP subscription services.

This. Before 2009 it was free over here.

Around here it's free IF you pumped some gas. Even if you didn't, you can just go inside and tell the cashier: "I pumped some gas, can you turn on the air?" ...they won't question it :P

Otherwise there's a coin slot on the side to activate the air compressor.
