Pub doormen in Norwich are to conduct breath tests on punters before deciding whether to let them in.

Thirty bars and clubs in the city are taking part in a month's trial to help revellers gain "better knowledge" about their boozing.

Police have told Norwich's licence holders they are "expected to be responsible" about who they let in, but no actual alcohol limit has been introduced.

Venues taking part will bear the slogan: "Are you trollied? #DeepBreath".

Insp Ed Brown of Norfolk Police said: "These kits will allow door staff to better gauge how much alcohol someone has had and in turn help them refuse entry to someone who is too drunk."

What are your thoughts about these breath tests?

How drunk is too drunk? Besides, no matter how sober they are when they enter, they can get extremely wasted in one bar, then go back out into the streets all drunk.

I suppose you'd want to keep someone who's completely wasted out... seems like bit of a hassle though.

actual alcohol limit has been introduced

So, this is basically left up to the person administering the test. Not to mention, I bet if you slip them some money, you'll walk right in without a test.

^ I don't really go out in Norwich much - Certainly not to clubs but I do know the bouncers here are very strict! My friends brother is a bouncer.
I don't really see how this can be done if they haven't released a limit.
