You shouldn't be afraid of doing anything. If you want to do something, do it! Believe in yourself. There's no need to try and stop yourself or put yourself down so you don't do something, there's always going to be haters who are out there to make you afraid of doing certain things. The best thing to do is to prove everyone wrong, shove the haters back and prove to everyone you're not afraid of anything. 
Well, that depends on you and your morals and principles. I'm not afraid of doing what I feel is right, and some times certain things other people consider a morally bad choice has to be done. Some times we aren't always in a position to do the right thing no matter our moral compass or beliefs. It isn't always in the cards for us.
Failing is one of the best things, it just means you get back up, learn where you went wrong and fix it.
