What are some seemingly small crimes that could give you serious jail time?
 
I'd avoid pointing a laser at anything in the air. In the worst case scenario it can hit a cockpit and temporarily blind the pilot, causing a crash.
 
Getting in a fist fight. If someone reports it, either of you will be doing time for a bull shit assault charge.
 
If you're under 18, taking a nude picture of yourself constitutes production of child pornography, which is a Federal felony. It is also a felony to keep or transmit that picture, and there are no sexting exceptions to the law. If two 17-year-olds are privately sending nudes to each other, then each is carrying out the production and transmission of child pornography, both of which are felonies.
