how dare they use Our Beautiful President's own words against him?

(from a certified non-disgusting non-hating media)

As Democrats attack Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for their proposals regarding Medicare, Republicans are circulating this clip from a November 9, 2009 interview we had with President Obama in which he not only acknowledged that one third of his health care bill was paid for by cuts to Medicare, but that he would veto attempts to undo those cuts.

Disagree...Obama is doing everything he can do to make America and its medicare better than ever.

[font=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif][background=rgb(240, 240, 240)]The Affordable Care Act does reduce Medicare spending by $500 billion over the next 10 years. But here’s the catch: Those dollars aren’t taken out of the current budget, they are not actual cuts, and nowhere does the bill actually eliminate any current benefits, we wrote last month.[/background]

[font=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif][background=rgb(240, 240, 240)]Which brings us to the next point. We note that, in the debate, Romney specified that Obama cut Medicare for seniors. That sounds like he meant that Obama cut Medicare benefits.[/background]

[font=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif][background=rgb(240, 240, 240)]That notion falls flat too. The health care law does not reduce benefits -- in fact, it enhances them.[/background]

[font=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif][background=rgb(240, 240, 240)]The Affordable Care Act improves the benefits in Medicare, in terms of prevention, in terms of filling in the donut hole in Medicare Part D for prescription drugs, said Jonathan Oberlander, a health policy professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

[font=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif][background=rgb(240, 240, 240)]The ACA has mechanisms to reduce waste within medicare and has extended the fiscal solvency of the program by 10 years.[/background]

[font=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif][background=rgb(240, 240, 240)]No benefits cut, the Republicans have repeated this false line so much it's utterly obnoxious.[/background]

Well, if the President is at least not cutting benefits, the country is good. If you think he's cutting the benefits in your honest opinion, then yes, people should start carrying Romney under our wings.

Obama's ACA strengthens medicare and those receiving benefits, all the while increasing the financial credibility of the program in the long-term.

Romney is a joker.

The point was more about ABC saying something against Mister Obama more than anything about the health care bill.

And from what I've seen, it is up to the states to decide if and what to 'cut'.

States now have responsibility to create health insurance exchanges and decide whether or not to expand Medicaid coverage. The extent to which they choose to do so could determine how people perceive the law and the actual success of reform.

That sounds suspicious at best. What were they wasting so much money on if a $500000000000 decrease in funding doesn't affect anything adversely?

One nation divided...

Seriously, how do people reconcile patriotism, the pledge of allegiance and the partial sovereignty of each state? I never got that.

There were a few notables that thought of themselves as citizens of their state first.

“If Virginia stands by the old Union, so will I. But if she secedes…then I will follow my native state with my sword and if need be with my life.”

Why is that notable?

[font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif][background=rgb(250, 246, 237)]Well now you're talking about medicaid and the medicaid expansion. I thought we were talking about medicare.[/background]
