Obvious rip-off of another game

One of the most blatant rip-offs that spring to mind is M&M's Shell Shocked on the PS1..

Wasn't there something before that as well or have I got that wrong? I swear there was a battle royale thing before Minecraft Hunger Games?
I'm not aware of any on console but there have been several games that have copied Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. The Clash Royale ones are funny because most of them look exactly the same and have not tried to add anything unique
Playing World of Final Fantasy right now, though it has a spin on it, the game is a clear rip off of Pokemon.
