If you could only have one book for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Donna Tart's The Goldfinch. It has so many facets, filled with color and relationships, and I think describes well a life of living with background/foreground anxiety and just-out-of reach love.
It's a long book that just when it's about to plod, changes course.

The Bible - RSV

Well that's pretty shitty...just one? How about one books series? I'd go with The Witcher series or The First Law/Age of Madness trilogies.

I'd pick Ernest Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea, it's my favorite book. A really simple book, easy to understand language, a most enjoyable read that tells a simple yet very interesting story with lots of life lessons.

I think I would go without reading if I had only one book for the rest of my life. There are just too many to pick just one. Can't do it.

The Lord of the Rings. Absolute classic and my favourite book. I don't do a whole lot of reading anymore but I re-read LOTR at least once a year.
