Ever heard of those one hit wonder forums? Like they make a big deal about however many posts in a week or so, and then you never hear from then again or they die.

Comments?

Doesnt matter to me unless I was a member there and like the forum.

Most of the time that happens, at the start, there is a lot of oppurtunity for new threads, posts etc. but once a lot of threads have been made, it is harder to think up more.

It happens due to the fact that when they open, they advertise for ages and people flood in, Then they stop advertising and start to give up when they get lower amounts of posts than in the first week.

Stat obsessors = failure at forums.

This is the reason I don't join brand new forums anymore unless i'm doing an exchange.

I always watch a site I like if its new. If it grows and maintains activity then I will join it.

I don't like forums that have are one-hit wonders. They don't last. What's the point in continually joining new forums? That's why I've started looking for established boards. Ones that will live longer.

I don't really think that. I sort of obsess about my stats but when they go down I continue to obsess and do something about them and keep activity at its peak. Just have to have a certain drive to succeed and not give up.

That's true. I am kind of trying to wait a while before I join up with a new board. I don't like joining up with forums only to have them close like a year later. If I know that a board is going to be around for a while, then I'll join up with it and possibly consider being active there.

Well you have to be careful about that because if the admin is overly obsessed with getting the most posts possible , that sort of turns off members and makes them not want to come back.

It all depends on what you do though..

LIke if you send out a mass email every week saying ACTIVITY IS DOWN! COME POST NOW! or tell your members they need to make x amount of posts each month or they will be banned / account deleted.. then yeah.. I'd avoid that.
