Do we have a one hit wonder thread?

You know, a band that drops one song into the Billboard Top Ten, and is never heard from again.

For instance:

And the nominees for best use of power cords in a hit song by a one hit wonder includes...

well, if we didn't have a thread for them, we do now.

Where is MC Hammer? He practically defined the word.

Hammer was mostly known for these two one-hit-wonders. Last I heard he has gone bankrupt.

TWO HITS!?!?!?!?

I have to file an objection, two hits almost make him a legend.

You need to have ONE hit! It can be a very good song, but still.

Now nominated for Off Topix award for the best use of robot chick in a video for their One Hit

I'm sure in some dictionary somewhere there is one word behind the phrase One Hit Wonder...

Rockwell.

My first question was: who in the hell is George Baker? so, yeah, I'd say it's at least close.

Same goes for this guy.

But if you are going to have One Hit, it might as well be an iconic song.

To This Day, in area codes that have an 867 exchange, they cannot assign the number 5309 because of this song.

Little green bag is a reference to a bag of weed, and one hit wonder fits quite nicely.

One hit wonder is a term for a potent strain

Which explains why I missed that one.

And thank you for the explanation all the same.

But, if it doesn't make any difference to you, I'll continue to miss that one.... here, and now, so to speak.

And yes... this one was a One Hit Wonder of the musical variety.

It could be debated whether not this one was technically a One Hit Wonder.... but since nobody can think of anything else they ever did, we'll go with it.

And now the nominee for Best One Hit Wonder with a Female Singer who also played Saxophone

Yes, Charlie Ryan wrote it, then he sang it.

The song has been a hit for several others. But it was his only one.

NOTE: in 1960, nobody made 'music videos'.

And now we bring the best hit (and a half) wonder in a powdered wig.
