As an admin, are you one of us? Do you act like a regular member and interact with the members as you would if you did not have a staff title?



Or do you let it be known constantly that you are above everyone?

A forum shouldn't feel like a job as it should feel like a hobby which you do everything out of wanting to do it and not because you feel obligated to doing it. I don't care much for showing my authority unless the situation calls for it which is quite rare. I tend to act like a regular member most of the time.

I try to be very flexible. But some rules have to be enforced or all goes haywire.

I get on some forums and the administrators are never on and don't conversate with the members at all, I try to be the opposite, I am on a good portion of time allowing myself to give the site the dedication it needs and I interact and get to know all of my members regardless if they're brand new or veterans. I don't throw my power around at all but I will step in if things get out of hand, I do act different to some degree like being more administrator than member maturity wise, having fun but also showing a side that is worth respecting.

This. Although on my last forum (it never opened) I decided to ditch colours for staff names so that way we don't stand out and just appear as a normal members. Because that is what we are, just we keep the forum a fun and safe place to be.

I am on my forums a lot and will chat to my users, via PM and on the actual forum, but when rules need to be enforced i will enforce them.

I am a member of the community,and as far as being a person we are all equals but as an admin I'll always probably be seen as different or held to a higher standard than other members. So I don't think you can fully be one of them because if you break your own rules you'll be deemed a hypocrite and no one will take you or your rules seriously anymore. If a member breaks a rule no one is going to come down on them as hard as they would with the one who moderates or administrates the site.



Even though the staff are just as human that doesn't mean all of the members will acknowledge this if you start behaving inappropriately.

I usually act like a regular member on my forum unless users are acting up. I don't try to act like I'm above anybody (because I'm not).
