There are lots of people out there who tend to react to every situation in an over-dramatic or exaggerated manner. They act as though things are much worse than they really are.

Have you ever had to deal with any drama on forums (or anywhere else online)?
Do you seek it out or does drama always seem to follow you wherever you go?

Share some instances of the drama you encountered and how you dealt with it.

I've had to moderate forums that have had major drama problems in the past, and I can say that it is one of those things that's just much better when it's prevented entirely. It is extremely stressful to try to manage, and there will always be some who are upset with the outcome.

How do you think you could have prevented those situations (you had to deal with) entirely?

I usually see drama on facebook and then just log off because it happens all the time and I cant stand reading it.

Haha good point. Obviously any decent sized forum will have at least some drama, but in my case, it would have definitely helped had I started enforcing forum rules earlier on. I ended up learning the hard way that the Laissez-faire style of moderation isn't particularly effective.

Actually not, i feel like the places i stay(like Off Topix) there's very little drama going on.

I've seen a lot of drama on some boards I used to frequent, some people take all that forum crap way too serious.
But fact is on some boards you will get banned simply because you gave your opinion on something.

Reminds me of a old board I used to run we clearly had stated in our board rules, dumb or unnecessary comments will be removed and if you keep at it you will be banned..
And then they go off and complain on other boards......

I learned you can either grow to enjoy it or ignore it but if you think responding to it is going to lead anywhere good then you are gonna have a bad time. There are exceptions to the above but they are pretty rare as most of the time it's one person taking life too seriously and another who simply keeps at it because it is too much fun to quit abusing this fact.

I barely see it much anymore though as it was way more commonplace for me anyway during 2006-2009 then it is these days.

I've dealt with it many times on my first forums, bans were the perfect ending for them.

That's true, forums back in those days were riddled with drama. I think all those teenagers have grown up and matured. The new batch of teenagers out there seems to be less dramatic it seems. :|

TBH I love internet drama once in a while. Too much and it gets rly annoying but sometimes it's just hilarious. It's true that it isn't that common on forums anymore. More other social media like youtube or facebook.

Yeah sometimes it can be funny to watch how people flip out over the smallest insignificant things. But if you see that every single day, you might wish that member would just disappear. :P

It's fun if they get suspended for a few weeks and then come back. Keeps everything alive. :P
