PORTLAND, Ore. - Police arrested an Oregon teenager who confessed on Facebook that he had been driving drunk on New Year's Eve and hit someone's car.

Astoria police say officers were investigating a hit and run involving a sideswiped car when two Facebook friends of Jacob Cox-Brown contacted authorities to report a Facebook post in which the 18-year-old wrote: Drivin drunk ... classsic;) but to whoever's vehicle i hit i am sorry.

Deputy Chief Brad Johnston says Cox-Brown was charged with failure to perform the duties of a driver. He was not charged with drunken driving because the Facebook post is not sufficient evidence that he was intoxicated.

In a press release, police say with a Facbook post like this one, you have to figure that it is not going to stay private long.

What an idiot and I'm glad his friends contacted the authorities. He might not have been charged with DWI this time but I have a feeling this isn't the first time he's done this.

In a way, he fessed up to what he did which isn't a bad thing.

Yes, but I don't think he intended to... so it's more of an accidental good thing brought on by stupidity. Which is just sad.
