Just using the formula based on a dream I had a couple of months ago, and just going with a small amount as 'proof of concept'. I have developed a new form of the MythBusters favorite flammable!

It's tough to light, but once going, burns like all nine circles of hell at once.

Now to try it on the tree stump target.

I'll post an update, and hopefully a picture later.

Amazing that this came to you in a dream. Perhaps you can patent your form of the MythBusters favorite flammable! :explode:

I can't afford a patent attorney.

But if you just think about the formula, and what the various additives used do for the reaction, it should be simple to come up with.

AND

My formula is simpler, and cheaper, than theirs.

I'm not sure if it gets to the nearly 4000 degrees F of the 'original' but judging from the aftereffects, it's pretty damned hot.

I just find it amazing this formula came to you in a dream. That's like an omen that you should do something about it. How expensive are the patent attorneys?

The first thing I need to do is get an accurate scale and write down a reproducible recipe.

Which I'll work on next week.

When I said in the "interview thread" introduction that I had an interest in Alchemy, I wonder how many Off Topixites had any idea what that meant.

This was the view my wife had from the patio some thirty feet away as it really got going.

This 'volcano' was from probably less than two ounces of dry 'stuff' none of it by itself explosive and using only things available at a home center.

And put together as I saw it in the dream about our old "Bombastic" friend.

When we do it at night sometime in the near future we'll get a video.

For a true 'mythbuster' type reaction, there should be 'sparks' coming out of the white part of the fire, and this thing is so bright you'll never see them just looking at it. And the photos can't catch it well enough.

Also, the 'REAL' stuff burns at around 4000F (2200C), and I don't think this gets that hot.

But it is still HOT and somewhat violent.

I've spent parts of the last two days checking various forums, chat room logs, and other such sites, including one anarchists group, and NOBODY has the recipe for the stuff that I worked out.

Evidently, it is new.

They use a different oxidizer, a different form of one ingredient, and do NOT include the third in any fashion.

Perhaps I do need to look into a patent.

Very interesting and I agree you should look into a patent.

Perhaps we can call this stuff LLH (short for Levite's Living Hell)!

I had spent yesterday sitting with my mother.

Then spent this morning up at their house doing yard work.

So this afternoon I needed a distraction.

I made the largest batch of the 'stuff' I had put together yet.

Put it on the old stump and lit it.

it quickly reached the "oh, my" stage

There is no doubt about it, the more 'stuff' you have the hotter it gets and the more of the mythbuster stuff type reaction that gets going.

No, we are not talking about a simple 'burning' here, this becomes an exothermic chemical reaction.

The smoke from the reaction, and steam from the old damp tree stump even partially obscured the traffic on the highway a block away. (sorry about that)

Yikes. Lucky the fire trucks didn't come racing over to your house.

What would some of the usages be for this stuff?

For our 'GT' tomorrow with family, friends, church people, neighbors, and so on....

I have put together a 'six pack' of 12oz aluminum cans, packed full of the 'improved' mixture that gets to somewhere between 2000 to 3000 C (4 to 5000F). (it vaporizes aluminum and will melt steel)

My brother has agreed to light it while he is shooting off some fireworks for the kids.

I plan to be a safe distance away, with a camera.

If it goes as planned, I'll post pictures.

If it goes as my wife thinks it might given the violence and heat of the smaller test reactions so far, CNN will post pictures.

I hope no one gets hurts in the process of lighting, taking pics and/or perhaps being blown to Kansas. :explode:
