Which is more important in a relationship: Passion or Security.

Here's how I'd define the difference between the two:

Passion: A relationship based on excitement, adventure, and good chemistry.

Security: A relationship based on financial and physical stability.

Do you want me to put a poll into this thread? Or can you do it?

I would say both of them are important.

Both are equally important for a good, healthy relationship. You need passion to keep it interesting, but you need security to hold it together.

I too believe both are equally important, but if there was a choice which do you feel is the more important factor.

I personally don't know how I would answer as the most important so I want to see what others feel.

When I first added the poll I must have mistaken the poll title for the question and left it blank. Thanks, though.

IMO, security is the bond that holds a relationship together. Without a feeling of security, you can't keep a relationship going. A relationship based soley on passion does not pay the bills.

Passion. Security is for when I'm old(er).

What she said.

I'm still at a young age, but I would definitely say passion. Love is blind, and doesn't have a dollar value.

@Fatal Dawn: Can you now pick the most important one?

A relationship based solely on security does not create strong and healthy love...

Maybe it depends on the person, and how much you love the person?

I see more relationships and marriages based more--if not solely on security end because the passion, the love ain't strong, the partners slowly but surely stray apart... A relationship that's passionate, is stronger because the feelings are stronger...

I'd rather be broke as a joke and happy than unhappy with all the money in the world...

I kinda agree. A secure relationship without passion looks more like a prison to me.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy celebrating Thanksgiving.

I've heard a lot some of my friends say they would marry for money. Some girls I know said they wouldn't get serious with a man if he doesn't have good assets. I believe there's some truth to that. Money makes the world go round.

However to answer your question Jazzy I think passion is more important. I mean passion as in genuine unconditional love and not some school-girl crush.

Why do I feel that way?

Love is an amazing force of human nature. Of all the things on this earth that should matter most to any person – it is love. Nothing else brings reason to life, essence to even humble souls, and redemption to all things. Nothing else is as universal as the concept of love. Cherish love. It will serve you to be timeless each moment and momentous each time. Don’t let anything obstruct something as precious and prized as the jewel of love.

^ I wrote this a couple years back as a teenager. Amid all the stress and pain of my childhood, I began to see how important love was...

Money, assets, houses, cars, food, safety, even health - all things that security provides can be easily taken away. I know this to be painfully true...

I agree providing for someone is a big part of showing you care, but you can't provide everything. Nothing you do in the world will ever stop the one's you love from getting sick or hurt, or feeling pain. Money cannot hug you or tell you things will be alright. Like what Cranos and Mr. Jazzy said. You could be living the most lavish and secure lifestyle, but without passion your spirit is like an empty furnace. A cold iron cage where there's no warmth or light to be found.

According to me, Passion is more important in relationship.
