I was thinking of sending poor Stuart Varney a copy of the Bible -- with the gospel passages underlined where Jesus says "blessed are the peacemakers", and advocates generosity and compassion (the parts that are NEVER mentioned on Fox, among the pitches promoting torture and wars of aggression, despite the frequent claims by these far-right crazies to be "Christians").

A contractor builds houses - busts their butt all year working hard and makes a million dollars. Pays 39.5% federal tax. A stock investor trades stock - busts their butt all year researching and investing and makes a million dollars. Pays 20% federal tax. Varney thinks that's fair, even though in this analogy he would be the contractor, his guest is the investor, and the investor is asking to pay 39.5% instead of 20%. Nothing changes for Varney, but he still bitches. Then he'll turn around and complain that we have a growing national debt. I suppose his solution to paying off credit card debt is to get a lower paying job (which is essentially how cutting taxes to increase revenue works). I tell you, republicans make no sense to me.

You know, if these "patriotic millionaires" want to pay more to Uncle Sam, there's a way they can do so and still dodge the taxman: they can cut checks to help pay down the U.S. debt! Quoting...

Everyone who pays federal taxes is already helping to pay off this debt--or at least pay the annual interest payments to finance it. However, all Americans have the right to donate money or property to the U.S. government to be used specifically to pay off the debt. The money (or proceeds from the sale of the gift) is placed in a special account to be used to pay at maturity, or to redeem or buy before maturity, an obligation of the U.S. government included in the public debt.

Moreover, such contributions are tax deductible if you itemize your deductions. For these purposes the federal government is treated the same as a charity. Of course taking a deduction for a gift you make to pay off the debt seems a bit counter-productive. Nevertheless, it is possible. Does anyone ever make such contributions? Yes. The government received a little over $3 million in such gifts the last fiscal year.

The federal government has gone out of its way to make it easy to make such contributions. There are two ways for you to make a contribution to reduce the debt:
you can make a contribution online either by credit card, or checking or savings account at Pay.gov
you can write a check payable to the Bureau of the Public Debt, and in the memo section, note that it's a Gift to reduce the Debt Held by the Public. Mail your check to:

To take a charitable deduction for such a contribution, you must have written proof you made it. Luckily the Bureau provides a written acknowledgment to the donor for cash contributions toward reducing the public debt. The Bureau ordinarily provides the acknowledgment within two weeks. For cash contributions paid by electronic means, the Bureau transmits an electronic confirmation receipt to the donor. (NoLo Law for All)

No spin here, just pointing out the hypocrisy of those in the upper-class who benefit from a tax structure that penalizes savings and earned income but allows those who make their dollars via. interest and inheritance to pay substantially lower tax rates than they are supposed to. *adds deadpan* ...of course, if Washington didn't spend money out the ass at every opportunity, we might not be in such bad shape in regards to the debt...

america will always be in debt if there's a private central bank that loans the country worthless paper money with interest... then the small banks must go to the central bank to get loans, that are as well with interests... the at the end of the day the government and the economy is under slavery and everlasting debt... the federal reserve and it's "owners" is the most dangerous threat america has... which are the jews i'm afraid... it's called facts, just fallow the money trail...
