Paying Staff

I've never paid staff and would only do so if my board was making money and there was profit left over at the end of a year after costs. I've never been paid to be staff either, even when I was part of the ZB support team.

I wouldn't even be shocked if whatever he got paid for it didn't even cover the debt it was already creating.

I'll bet running a service like that would be pretty costly!

Particularly when most of the income was through ads. I know ProBoards ran into funding issues either last year or the year before when they started asking their users for donations to help keep the lights on, so it seems running a free forum service has either always been tough on finances or started going that way as forums became less popular than they used to be.

My understanding was they sent out a service wide message about the matter, since boards that donated more would receive perks.

I'll bet they got a few donors. I know some die hard proboards users who love that particular hosting service.
