This just goes to show that Democrats vote the party and have no idea what's going on with the people they're voting for.

Pennsylvania should be ashamed of being so ignorant :(

They knew he was dead but there's a reason they voted for him (and ignorance wasn't one of them).....
Democrat Tony DeLuca, the longest-running Pennsylvania state representative, at 39 years, died last month at 85 of lymphoma, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Because of his recent death, election authorities were unable to change the ballots, and many voters chose him over Green Party challenger Queonia "Zarah" Livingston, marked by a sizable lead. A special election will be held to choose a proper candidate to take his seat.

"While we're incredibly saddened by the loss of Representative Tony DeLuca, we are proud to see the voters to continue to show their confidence in him and his commitment to Democratic values by re-electing him posthumously. A special election will follow soon," Pennsylvania House Democrats said in a tweet.
....the reason being they didn't want the Green Party candidate winning outright so by voting for the dead guy, they force a special election to be held.

Voters aren't as dumb as you made them out to be.

Why were they so opposed to her? Am I missing something? I would have thought it would be a good thing to have a Green Party candidate win an election.

Because of the majoritarian two-party system we have; the Greens are considered a "third party" in the U.S. and there's been too many times in the past where a third-party candidate will run in a general election and lose because voters from both major parties will vote for their "big" major opponent rather that the third-party candidate (this is why you see things like all-skate primaries and ranked choice voting becoming more prevalent in the U.S.).

That's actually really genius lol

Why does everyone hate the Green Party anyway?
Republicans don't care about them most days because, as a progressive-oriented party, they tend to take more votes away from Democrats (similarly as how Libertarians take votes usually from Republicans) and most Democrats I've ever come across don't care for them.
