David Petraeus is now scheduled to testify before two congressional committees on the attack on the American consulate in Libya, it was revealed today.
The first formal inquiry into the deadly raid on the facility in Benghazi had been slated to begin this week, with or without ex-CIA boss, who resigned from the post after revealing he had an affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell.
[font=arial, helvetica, sans-serif]As the salacious details the scandal steadily seep out of the FBI's ongoing investigation in Washington, lawmakers suspected that he would be a no-show at the hearing.
But the four-star general, who resigned from the agency in disgrace last week over an extramartial affair he was having with his biographer, will now testify as originally planned, FoxNews.com reported.
Details of Petraeus' testimony have not been officially released, but it is believed that he will be in Washington to speak to lawmakers beginning tomorrow.
Petraeus was scheduled to testify on the raid before Congress in separate closed-door hearings on Thursday until his sudden and shocking resignation.
Lawmakers scheduled the classified hearings to examine intelligence on the security situation in Libya and the military's response to the attack, which killed a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans.
Some lawmakers have questioned whether the raid on September 11, the 11th anniversary of the al Qaeda terror attack on the U.S., could have been avoided or at least mitigated.
