Phones banned in schools?

In New Zealand they're banned and the teachers are meant to enforce it but just the other day a teacher asked a student for their phone and the teacher got attacked 🤷

My sons' school allows them to have the phone in their locker (or schoolbag) but if they use it during class without teacher permission, or if it makes a sound during class (notifications etc), they get detention.

Of course, phones are s problem because students can ignore lectures while browsing phones. The older ones also might browse porn if the Wi-Fi doesn't belong to the school.

And then.....there's what's commonly called the "butt dialing". Oops!

and what about doctors' offices? I don't think I've been in a doctor's office lately that didn't ban cell phones; or at least have them turned off.

I’d be questioning who has unlocked Wi-Fi than why kids are browsing porn.

Yes as it would Reduces distractions. Banning cellphone use in class can lead to more focused students. Can also reduce the risk of mental health struggles

Kids should not be allowed to use mobile phones in schools. We all know how distracting the use of mobile phones can be even for an adult, talk more of a child, while in school.

Even in colleges, people are not allowed to bring out their phones in class. Same thing should be applied to high schools. Students can come with their phones to school but can't use it during class.
