You’re safe with adobe, you can cancel at anytime and it’s a far better alternative to gimp, give it a try I’m sure you’d enjoy it!

GIMP do not have any AI tool. I won't say it AI at all even if it can be categorised as supervised learning. Having AI as Photoshop is GIMP would be very much productive.

Photoshop is just the best imo. It has the best tools and most capabilities. I do enjoy Gimp a bit as it is free and such, but I feel like users who want to go heavy into design but are not ready for the financial hit of Adobe's Cloud and such might be better off landing in the middle with a one-time payment software like Corel Paintshop.

The way I look at is gimp is for transforming a photo into something completely different. Photoshop is for taking a photo and enhancing it. I have no use for gimp I just want to enhance my photos no completely change them.

You can put an instagram filter on your pictures for free.

Absolutely not, I’m personally against filters and presets. I believe every photo deserves it’s own special edit.
