Heard this on The Wright Stuff where the three items above are to be banned from the 2012 Olympics. You might think this is crazy but I personally think it's legitimate if you think about it... picnics cause litter, mobile phones cause disruption and umbrellas... well, nothing wrong with them but what happens if it's a rainy day?

Discuss.

London 2012 Olympics: water, mobile phones and sandwiches could be banned.

Bottles of water, mobile phones and sandwiches could be banned as part of severe security arrangements being considered by London 2012 organisers.

People booking tickets, which went on sale this week, have to sign a terms and conditions document, which runs to 7,350 words, published by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (Locog).

This list of rules and regulations makes clear that the following items are banned: Food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, liquids in containers of greater than 100ml in size, umbrellas, horns, whistles, drums, rattles, musical instruments, or any other devices that in the opinion of Locog may disturb a session (including mobile telephones), flasks, Thermoses and in general any material that Locog may deem dangerous or that may cause damage or disruption to a session.

Safety and security for athletes, spectators and those working at venues must be our paramount concern and we are working this through. No final decision has been made.

Now water and sandwiches will get banned?

It'll probably be like how it is in airports. You can't bring your own stuff, but you buy it from venders that have already been checked, I think?
