It has been announced this week that there is going to be a significant increase in the cost of annual subscriptions to all the tiers of Playstation Plus by over 30%. I was quite excited initially about what would be offered with the premium service, as I was hoping they would go a lot further than they did with their classic game catalogue. I have found it to be incredibly underwhelming as they have mostly just been drip feeding titles and barely adding anything substantive. I am already subscribed till October next year, but will seriously consider downgrading to a lower tier at that point if their class library isn't any better. Especially as streaming isn't even available in New Zealand.

Yeah, this is just insane. Even the base one when up from $60 to $80 per year.
I barely even play the free games each month, I subscribe because you need it to play games online.

This is crazy! I miss the days where you didn't have to pay money to play online with other people. :\ These game companies earn enough money to keep the servers online, they really don't need even more money from their customers but they're just greedy.
Yeah, it does seem to be more a case of them pushing their profit margins. It did result in their stock prices jumping last week. One analyst also predicted that this could see them bring in just under $400 million in additional profit. Although at the same time we have been seeing subscription numbers dropping. Although that is harder to track since Sony stopped sharing their subscriber counts back at the start of August.
Especially with so many streaming and subscription services. It was already pretty expensive at its previous levels.
Yeah I think Sony is messing up hard here. Xbox GamePass is alot better at this point.

I never did like how they had PlayStation Plus set up. You lose all your PS+ games if you don't pay for another month? That feels like a rip off.
