Should police officers have to wear cameras on their person? Officers already have dash-cams, but should they have an attached first person point of view camera on them at all times.

Why or why not?

had it for years over here.........not every officer but quite a few on stuff like inner city or traffic patrol

rialto, california put cameras on all it's officers and it's been a huge success, with something like a 70% drop in police abuse complaints.

there was a report last week saying a cop turned his camera off to shoot somebody.

Yes. It allows for a non biased view of what's going on, to an extent. While most cops have dash cams, a lot of what happens between cops and civilians occurs outside of that. It won't necessarily show everything, but it'll act as another means of protecting the cop and the citizens.

yes... to protect everyone...

to restrict police corruption and brutality...

here's a powerful argument for cameras on cops. there was an incident in new jersey where a dash cam video that had been withheld from prosecutors resulted in dismissal of the charges against the suspect and indictment of the police who arrested him without proper cause, using excessive force and falsified documents.
