Police Ride-Along

I'm not sure. The opportunity arose at school. Only one student was going to be selected, so I jumped at the chance and had all the interviews and signed all the paperwork and whataya know? I got it, so I'm going to take full advantage of it.

I guess it doesn't hurt to get to experience first hand what the police get up to as it will only serve as further inspiration to join them.

So you are thinking of becoming a police officer one day?

That's the plan. The unfortunate thing is the only person who thinks I can make it is me. No-one else has actually said to me, you can do it. Everyone just says you can't do this. Can you do that? etc. It's really upsetting but only acts to feed my desire to prove them all wrong.

That's mean to be saying that to you. Perhaps they are trying to discourage you because they simply don't want you to be a police officer?

Who cares what they say anyway. When someone says that to me I just go and prove them wrong. As long as it's something you really want to do then go for it!

I think if they didn't want me to be one, they would just tell me flat.

It's funny when people who have had a bad encounter with the police realize I want to be one and they get all abusive. They say Why the fuck do you want to be a pig? hahaha.... their small minds amuse me.

I agree with you Kas. Most of my male friends are in law enforcement and they are the nicest guys you could ever meet. When they have to do their jobs, it's just a job and people get all pissy at them. Keep your nose clean and obey the law and you'll be fine is what I want to say.

I was told that when they get abusive, they're just abusing the uniform, not intentionally trying to offend the person wearing it.

[/quote]Went out on the following;

FIREARMS CHECK - Checking firearms and safe are all up to standard

TAXI FARE NOT PAID - Drunk guy wasn't willing to pay a $35 taxi fare

BRIDGE INCIDENT - Woman fallen down the bank next to a railway bridge, wasn't injured but her unwanted drunken partner turned up. He was quite aggressive and was carrying a knife in his pocket.

BAIL CHECKS - Checking people are complying with their bail conditions.

ARREST ASSAULT - Made an arrest on a guy that has previously assaulted his partner quite badly.

PATROL - Self explanatory

PAPERWORK - Self explanatory

We also ran over a cat on our way to a bail check and placed bets on how much it would cost to fill up the patrol car.

Have yet another ride along tonight (Saturday) from 10pm - ?? am

Weather is looking good so it should be an action filled night with a bit of luck.

Started out with a shoplifting from a supermarket, then proceeded to pull over almost every car we saw and issued tickets where applicable and breath tested all. At about 3:30am, we attempted to stop a vehicle with only one headlight, but it failed to stop for our red and blue lights so a pursuit was initiated. It ended not long after he bailed from the vehicle and over a fence. We lost him so we set up a cordon and flushed him out. Turns out he was a disqualified driver. After processing him at the station we headed back out and assisted the dog unit, then stopped another drunk driver. That was about it really - just paperwork into the rest of the morning.

Next ride along: Friday, 30th

Atleast your lucky enough to be able to ride along with your police, were not allowed to here

That sucks. It's a lot of fun being able to ride around with the boys and girls in blue.

Have received an email from the recruiting officer inviting me to a recruiting seminar.

Awesome and I assume you will be attending the seminar.

How old do you have to be to join the police department?
