Thoughts on politicians receiving gifts? Ethical or no? What about if it's a gift for their land and not the person?

Seems like a well-founded policy to me.

In this particular case, I think it's been pointed out that it would cost "a government" more and take more time to "de-bug" the item than it would to build a new one.

I've always felt that the politicians should work and benefit the country. But nowadays I feel like the country is being run by old rich guys who are using politics to get richer. I could be wrong tho. It just feels that way.

Certainly feels that way! Also those of you living in the UK should be aware of Boris Johnson’s party-gate scandal, an example of these guys using politics to weasel out of consequences, be above the law.

It’s one of those things where the media will either support or defend it depending on the political party of the president receiving the gift. We’ve all seen the mental gymnastics from outlets with stuff like that.

It doesn't surprise me. Politics can be a very dangerous career. There's no telling how many rotten people are running our nation. Just look at the Bill Clinton & Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Not ethical at all. I disagreed with our country receiving that jet from Qatar, and I disagree with Supreme Court justices (Clarence Thomas) receiving gifts. I don't know if we'd call them politicians, but it's still crooked. I also disagree with Congressmen (Nancy Pelosi) holding stocks, and conveniently buying/selling at the perfect time. It's all questionable. Potential kickbacks, potential insider trading. All that needs to go away.

Sounds like most things in politics. It’s only an issue for a short bit before we get outraged by something else.

Notice how politicians only care about guns when a mass shooting happens, and then a month later when nobody’s talking about it anymore they also stop talking about it?
